Prince William County Homes and Condos for Sale
A prime supplier of reasonably priced luxury homes for sale, Prince William County is also one of Virginia’s favorite destination places. The commonwealth’s second most populous county is well known for its Civil War battlefields, verdant national parks, aquarian sports, and other leisure activities. Located about 36 miles northwest of Washington, DC, it’s also a great location for bedroom suburbs and daily commuters searching for an ideal combination of convenience and wide open spaces.
Prince William County is bordered by the Potomac River and sits southwest of Fairfax County. Real estate prices are considerably lower in Prince William however, compared to its neighbors to the north and east, including Fairfax, Alexandria, Arlington, and Washington, DC. The bang for the buck when it comes to upscale homes on large lots, is increasingly attracting new home buyers to neighborhoods such as Manassas, Haymarket, Gainsville, Woodbridge, Nokesville, and Dumfries.

More About Luxury Homes in Prince William County
There’s no shortage of desirable places to live in Prince William County, starting with the county seat itself. Manassas is an independent city of around 38,000 residents with a large real estate inventory from classic antiques to new custom homes. Prices here have been quite competitive in recent years, although like much of Prince William, values are on the rise. A construction boom fueled by tech growth and the arrival of Fortune 500 companies in the early 2000s stalled during the housing bubble of 2006 and 2007. But today, the market is healthy and growing once again.
The same on-again, off-again spate of new luxury home construction that occurred in Manassas, can be found throughout the county. Haymarket is one of the popular communities with an interesting past. This historic town dates back to the 1700s but was largely destroyed by fire during the Civil War. Local citizens rebuilt the town and many of the structures from this reconstruction period survive today, along with the only two buildings to survive the 1862 fire. Here and in other affluent Prince William communities, you’ll find a large selection of stunning homes laden with amenities, from quintessential features like gourmet kitchens to more select finds like swimming pools.
The competitively priced market for luxury homes for sale continues in attractive communities like Gainsville, Nokesville, Dumfries, and Woodbridge. The Prince William region favors detached single-family homes, but there are still a decent number of high-end condos and townhouses sprinkled throughout the county. These are especially evident in communities near the Potomac River, such as Dumfries and Woodbridge. Also notable are the new upscale townhomes in Occoquan, a charming historic district along the Occoquan River.
Generally speaking, however, Prince William County is known for its large single-family homes, including new custom construction. Prices typically top out in the low seven-figure range, with an even larger inventory in six-figure territory. You’ll also find a propensity for very generous lot sizes, including estates and farms with substantial lush acreage. Prince William is horse country, after all.
