More About the Gainesville, VA Real Estate Market

This crossroads community centers at the intersection of Route 66 and Lee Highway and was once home to a primary stagecoach way station. The Manassas Gap Railroad arrived in 1852, helping to establish Gainesville as a cattle and grain community. The town was also an important transit point for Civil War troops who would head through the mountain gap en route to the legendary Bull Run battles.

Widespread residential development didn’t take root until the post-World War II era with construction increasing in recent years. Condos for sale are primarily townhouses, owing in large part to the Crossroads townhome community which was delivered in 1994. Three-bedroom clapboard Colonial-style townhouses start off at around $200,000 and climb from there. Newer brick multistory townhouse condos for sale can climb as high as 500,000.

As for detached single-family homes for sale, there’s an impressive variety of choices. A number of developments cater to horse enthusiasts with multi-acre lots, private stables and custom farmhouse-style homes. And then there’s the exclusive Saranac gated community at Lake Manassas, offering new upscale custom Arts & Crafts homes. And finally, there’s the bread and butter of Gainesville—oversized homes in a variety of Colonial styles, listing in the mid-six figure range.

There’s plenty of local amenities, including a highly-regarded equestrian center and polo club, local golf courses, several gyms and yoga centers.
