The Unique City Center Bubble Community

If ever a community concept fit a particular era, it’s City Center in Washington, DC with its chic modern condos for sale. Officially spelled CityCenterDC, the mammoth development in Downtown DC’s Mount Vernon Triangle is a bubble community in the truest meaning of the phrase. No, there isn’t a glass dome encapsulating it. But it is certainly a place where you can live, work, dine and shop, without leaving its bounds. That ultimate convenience has taken on added importance during a unique period in time that introduced new concerns and novel terminology, such as social distancing.

Five City Blocks in Mt. Vernon Triangle

It is one thing to live in a building with a couple businesses at the ground level. But CityCenter goes miles beyond that, or at least, two million square feet. Encompassing more than five city blocks in the heart of the nation’s capital, the mixed-use development includes two modern luxury condominium towers known as The Residences at CityCenterDC, plus upscale apartment rentals, office buildings, the Conrad Washington Hotel and over 40 world class shops and restaurants. There’s even a 1.5-acre park!

Apartments for sale are a key part of the attraction at City Center. Whether it’s a new reality of spending more time inside or a future return to normalcy as we once knew it, home is always important. The modernist condominiums use giant windows to create abundant natural light, while also inviting outdoor elements inside. Condominium prices enjoy a wide range, with recent sales ranging from the high $500s to over $2 million. There are various models and design options, with wide-plank hardwood floors, Molteni/Dada Italian kitchen cabinetry, recessed upscale appliances and in most cases, private outdoor spaces. The result is a sleek simplicity that is appealing to both the eye and soul.

CityCenterDC got out in front early during the pandemic, with numerous safety measures and protocols, including assisting condominium residents with elevator service and packages. A company playbook was established and newsletters are sent out on a regular basis, integrating and explaining local policies and DC Mayoral edicts. Living inside a bubble community has not eliminated the impact of a health crisis that has effected so much of Washington, including retailers and restaurants.

An Incredible Assortment of Amenities

In a city enthralled with food culture, fine dining has taken a recent hit. But tops eateries are learning to adapt, a case in point being CityCenterDC’s Centrolina where Chef Amy Brandwein has added a Thursday tasting menu at the a la carte space. CityCenter’s Fig & Olive and Piccolina da Centrolina also remain open, as well as many of the community’s upscale retailers such as DIOR, Kate Spade, Zadig & Voltaire, BOSS, Canali Boutique and others. For residents who simply want to get some fresh air, there’s outdoor events for all seasons, including Music in the Alley and picking flowers from Lily’s Flower Truck at the Plaza at CityCenter. Lily, by the way, is actually a dog owned by the proprietor, with a portion of profits going to local animal shelters.

Foster + Partners is the architectural firm tasked with designing residences for sale at CityCenterDC, from exteriors to kitchens, solar shades, private balconies and terraces, as well as a spectacular rooftop and countless other amenities and touches. The company partnered with Gustafson Guthrie Nichol Landscape Architecture to help with outdoor elements such as walkways, rooftops and the park. These intriguing spaces allow residents a welcome respite from indoor confines.

The location of the mixed-use community is also an integral part of the appeal. When you do choose to leave the CityCenter bubble, you’ll find yourself in the heart of Washington, close to Chinatown, the National Mall, theaters, museums and all the cultural attractions that help make our nation’s capital such a vital place to be.
