Additional Information about the Area
Greenbelt was founded in 1935, part of an interesting concept by FDR’s United States Resettlement Administration. The idea was to bring people together in an effort to work together for common goals, while also benefitting from highly affordable housing.
The fledgling town grew and evolved over time yet still retains much of the original charm and spirit. True to its name, there’s plenty of parks and other greenspaces. Residents also enjoy local shops, restaurants and other amenities. Also worth noting is some interesting Art Deco and mid-century design influences in certain local structures.
