The Iowa Condos For Sale
1325 13th St NW, Washington D.C.
The Iowa Condominium is one of Washington, DC’s grand old buildings—first delivered in 1900. It was named for Iowa Circle, now known as Logan Circle. Designed by Thomas Franklin Schneider, a German immigrant, this lovely Beaux Arts structure stands seven stories, and is notable for its richly detailed facade. But while the building was the height of elegance back in the day, it eventually fell into urban blight and abandonment. Fortunately, the story has a happy ending.

Additional Info About The Iowa Condominium Residences
In the late 1970s, developer David Clark rescued the old building, restoring it back to its former glory. He also purchased adjacent land and constructed three additional buildings, with remarkably faithful and similar design. The project, known collectively as the Iowa, encompasses an entire block. The original tower is at 1325 13th Street NW, with 12th Street, O Street and N Street completing the boundaries. And in the interior section of the four buildings is a huge, beautiful brick and grass courtyard with fountain and cloister gardens.
There are 96 residences altogether—43 original one and two-bedroom apartments that have been renovated, plus 53 townhouses in the other three structures. Plus, there has been a number of more recent upgrades in the ensuing years. The original residences are delightful places with tall ceilings, honey oak hardwood, exposed brick, and in many cases, wood-burning fireplaces. As for the townhouse units—those also feature all the goodies, and some are tri-level to boot! Common to all the buildings are wonderful chef’s kitchens, and many of the residences have terraces or patios.
Condos and townhouses for sale at the Iowa typically start off in the $400,000 range and climb from there. Also worth mentioning is the Iowa’s roof deck, along with a 100-car parking garage that is cleverly hidden underneath the central courtyard! Plus, for those who prefer mass transit, the Mount Vernon Square Metro Station is within walking distance.
This pet-friendly complex is just a block south of Logan Circle and its inviting center grassy stuff. Plus, there’s all kinds of great neighborhood amenities, including a Whole Foods, Vida Fitness, the Studio Theatre, and tons of great bars and restaurants.
