Real Estate Near Columbia Heights Green Line

When it comes to transit oriented neighborhoods in Washington, DC, it’s hard to beat Columbia Heights. The densely populated urban community has a rich variety of condos, row houses and other properties for sale. The Columbia Heights Metro Station with its Green and Yellow Lines is among the busiest in the District.

The Metro station is located at 3030 14th Street NW, and serves not only Columbia Heights but neighboring Mount Pleasant as well. Plus, many residents of next-door Adams Morgan choose the Columbia Heights station rather than trekking over the bridge to the Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan Station.

The Green Line runs from the Branch Avenue Station in Maryland and loops through numerous Washington, DC neighborhoods before heading back out to Maryland, ending at Suitland.

More about Properties for Sale near Columbia Heights Green Line Metro

The vast majority of homes for sale in the Columbia Heights neighborhood are row houses and condos. Most of the structures are historic, with a variety of architectural types that include Federal, Victorian, Eastlake, Beaux Arts and the later boxier porch-front Petworth townhouse style.

Additional Information about the Area

Columbia Heights was once rural farmland before going through several eras of residential development, starting in the late 1800s. Construction largely tapered off by the 1940s with some exceptions. The area, like much of the District, went through a period of urban decline after the DC riots of 1969. But recent decades have brought a sustained renewal and an increasingly hot real estate marketplace.

There’s plenty of great coffee shops, bars and restaurants in the neighborhood, as well as the unique urban Meridian Hill Park with its cascading water feature. There’s even more great amenities right next-door in Adams Morgan.
