U Street Corridor Real Estate, Washington DC
One of the Washington, DC neighborhood references that you hear repeatedly these days is the U Street Corridor—a mecca of trendy retail, nightlife and highly sought-after condos for sale. It is by no means a stretch of the imagination to say that U Street is both a social buzzword and one of the District’s hottest real estate markets. The area also happens to overlap parts of Shaw and Dupont Circle.
The U corridor stretches for about nine blocks, encompassing a rectangular shape with the borders generally assumed to be Florida Avenue to the north, 11th Street to the east, S Street to the south and 16th Street to the west. Within this high-density urban area is a delightful amalgam of condos for sale, including old apartment building conversions, industrial buildings that have been repurposed into lofts, ornate Victorian row houses and new modern mixed-use residences with ground floor retail.
What kind of prices are we talking for U Street Corridor real estate for sale? There’s something for everybody here, starting from itty bitty micro units in the low six figures to gothic multi-bedroom row houses for over a million bucks. You won’t find any detached single-family homes for sale here through, that’s not what the U Street Corridor is all about.
