Takoma Condos For Sale
The historic Takoma neighborhood in the far northeastern tip of Washington, DC might be best known for Victorian and Craftsman single-family homes, but there is an intriguing variety of condos for sale as well.
Takoma abuts the Maryland border with its sister community, Takoma Park, right on the other side. The adjoining neighborhoods were developed in 1883 as a single Victorian resort village. But in 1890, the Maryland General Assembly chose to incorporate their side as Takoma Park.

More About Takoma
Takoma’s early development was due to the railroad—visitors and residents could arrive from either the north or the south. It was viewed as a place to regain one’s health in the early days with “pure air.” The early 1900s brought an influx of Seventh Day Adventists, as well as trends toward teetotaling and vegetarianism.
Condos for sale in Takoma stem from different eras. There’s old Colonial Revival garden apartments and interesting Art Deco structures that have converted to condominiums and cooperatives, as well as newer contemporary developments. And, the early spirit of social activism still lives on with the unusual Takoma Village Cohousing—a recently built community of apartments and townhouses clustered around shared common spaces.
