Madison Manor began as an Arlington subdivision around 1940 but the advent of World War II put a pause in construction—supplies were in short demand around the country. Residential development kicked off once again around 1945 and continued at a steady pace until the 1970s. One of the last major building projects toward the end of that boom was Sycamore Ridge—a cluster of 14 townhouses delivered in 1979. There has been a mini-trend of new custom homes but not to the extent of some other Washington Metro neighborhoods.
Homes for sale in Madison Manor have a mix of styles, with the oldest properties reflecting brick Colonial Revival architecture. Those were followed by Cape Cods, Ramblers and split-levels, as well as intriguing mid-century contemporary properties with car ports, wide overhangs and big glass sliders. The majority of recent real estate sales have been in the mid-to-high six figures, with a few climbing past the million dollar mark.
The East Falls Church Park dips into the community at its northwestern section. Immediately next to that is the local Madison Manor Park with a stream, baseball field, tennis and basketball courts, playground and picnic shelter. Commuting is convenient given nearby major roadways as well as the East Falls Church Metro station. Plus, there’s plenty of nearby shopping and restaurants in the immediate area as well as to the east along the Rosslyn-Ballston Corridor.
