Huntington, VA Homes For Sale
The community of Huntington, Virginia offers something unusual for the area—legitimately affordable homes for sale. Located immediately adjacent to the uber-wealthy Belle Haven, and bordering the Cameron Run tributary river to the north, this town of 12,000 residents is triangular in shape and is part of Alexandria, Virginia.
What kind of prices are deemed affordable? Properties start off around $185,000 and rarely climb above $600,000. And while a majority of listings are condos, duplexes and townhouses for sale, buyers can still find single-family properties as well.
This interesting community was once known as Halderby’s Landing—named for a dock on the wide tributary stream that was used for bringing tobacco crops down to the Potomac River. In 1869 however, the town was renamed for railroad baron Collis P. Huntington whose C&O Railway was a major local employer. The military also had a presence here. In fact, the two-story brick duplexes and garden courtyard apartment complexes that are so common here were built for World War II service families.

More About the Huntington, VA Real Estate Market
Affordable prices attract attention quickly, of course. Home values have been climbing by double digits over the past two years. There is a wide variety of condos for sale, including modern high-rise structures, both older and newer townhouses and the aforementioned garden apartment conversions.
While the presence of the Cameron Run Tributary has an obvious appeal, there’s also the problem of a low flood plain during heavy storms. In order words, if you have a river view you may want to keep some sand bags handy during inclement weather.
