Capitol Riverfront Neighborhood Information
While Capitol Riverfront was “created” by the city council as a newly-named neighborhood in 2003, the area itself dates back to the 1800s when it was a lively wharf with a riverfront residential community, streetcars and bustling commercial districts.
Now, a 500 acre swath of land that had fallen into considerable decay and decline, is being redeveloped into mixed-use green-friendly residential complexes, along with a host of amenities. The new residences include luxury apartment rentals along with condos and townhomes for sale. Nearly 3,000 units have been delivered so far with many more to come.

Integrated development projects include Nationals Park (home to MLB’s Washington Nationals), Riverwalk Trail, Half Street entertainment district, Fairgrounds Outdoor Market, Capitol Quarter Townhouse community, Velocity Condos, and Foundry Lofts—an adaptive reuse of a historical Navy Yard industrial building.
