In the large community of Suitland, Maryland is its eponymously named Metro station with Green Line service. Suitland is in Prince George’s County and offers a number of affordable homes for sale. But it’s also just about a mile from the Washington, DC border, adding further desirability for commuters.

This community of roughly 26,000 residents has a long and rich history. But more recently, it has received an infusion of economic support through county and federal government support and employment.

More about Properties for Sale near Suitland Green Line

While the majority of residential real estate listings in Suitland are detached single-family homes, there are also condos and townhouses for sale. In fact, properties closest to the Green Line Metro are often condominiums and multistory townhomes. Prices near the station typically hover in the low-six figures.

Further away from the Metro are larger homes with values climbing into the mid-six figures. But whether it is cottages or spacious properties on good-sized lots, the prices are still much lower than most other parts of the general DC area.

Buyers will also find solid deals in adjacent communities like Silver Spring (which also has its own Metro station).

Additional Information about the Area

Suitland was named for a massive estate built by Colonel Samuel Taylor Suit—a Maryland businessman and farmer—in the 1860s. The village was a rural vacation area for wealthy Washingtonians in those early years but didn’t become widely developed until the 20th century.

In 1941, the federal government purchased large portions of land for the Suitland Federal Center. The giant complex still houses numerous federal offices, mostly in typical office buildings. An antique Colonial Revival home still stands on the property, however, housing U.S. Census Bureau offices.

With a growing economy and new construction, Suitland continues its lengthy evolution. To learn more about competitively priced homes for sale near the Suitland Green Line, call District Partners at Compass, 202-798-3600.
