The Foggy Bottom Silver Line is one of three electric rail transit routes offered at the Foggy Bottom-GWU Metro Station. Located at 2301 I Street NW in Washington, DC, the station serves the Foggy Bottom neighborhood. Foggy Bottom is an old and historic neighborhood and there are certainly some antique homes for sale, especially near the Georgetown border. But the larger number of residential properties are more recently built.

The sleek modernist compound was built between 1962 and 1971. In 1972, it was the site of the Democratic National Committee break-in, ultimately leading to the resignation of President Richard M. Nixon.

The neighborhood dates back to 1765 and was originally home to the Christian Huerich Brewing Company as well as glass plants. Much of the area was owned by German settler Jacob Funk, and in fact, was initially known as Funkstown. The name Foggy Bottom is a reference to the haze that would hover over the area—a combination of fog rolling off the Potomac River and clouds of pollution from a gas works.
Foggy Bottom was also the original site of the CIA headquarters and is still home to the State Department, the World Bank and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Local residents enjoy many amenities, including bars, restaurants, a new library, a Trader Joe’s and a Whole Foods.
