This historic community still has its share of detached single-family homes for sale, typically starting around a million dollars and climbing from there. Many of these date back many years, including large Victorian and Craftsman houses. There are also new Arts & Crafts-style luxury homes, offering a nod to traditional architecture.

Clarendon is immediately west of the Courthouse neighborhood. The two communities are often interlinked and referred to as Clarendon-Courthouse. But each has its own Metro station, as do the other communities along the Rosslyn-Ballston Corridor.

The area has a long and rich history, dating back to early farmland but became more widely developed after the arrival of streetcars, circa 1896. The community continued to evolve over time, with modern progress aided by Metrorail.
