Hyattsville dates back to early tobacco plantations and was originally known as Beale Town. It eventually became the intersection of the Washington and Baltimore Turnpike and in 1835, the B&O Railroad arrived. A decade later, a businessman with the last name of “Hyatt” opened a general store and decided to name the town after himself.

You’ll also find Ramblers, Capes and Split-levels, and of course, the Sears catalogue homes that were shipped in kit form, by rail. There’s also a fair number of condos for sale, including artists’ lofts and retro-looking row house-style townhomes. All-in-all, prices start around $100,000 and rarely rise above $700,000.
