More About the Fairfax City Real Estate Market 

But what about condos for sale? They do exist here, though not as prevalent as detached single-family homes. Prices start around $170,000 for small one-bedroom apartment-style units and rise in price quickly. The majority of condos for sale here are of the townhouse variety and they can get quite large and luxurious, topping out just shy of a million dollars. 

As for single-family homes for sale, you can kind Ramblers and Split-levels starting things off at around $350,000, along with Cape Cods, Tudors, Colonials, Victorians and new custom construction. Prices rarely exceed $1.5 million—one of the many nice surprises about this popular little city is the relative affordability as compared to some of Washington Metro’s most expensive neighborhoods. Yes, it’s an affluent community but home prices are in line with the county median.

With a nearby Giant and Trader Joe’s markets, local residents don’t have far to go for groceries. There are shops, restaurants and movies, and an Old Town sector where new-mixed use development is tastefully incorporated around original historic architecture. And families with school-age children will be happy to know that Fairfax High School was recently honored with the prestigious gold medal ranking from US News and Report.
