Central (Washington DC) Neighborhood Information

Given the history associated with the heart of DC, you wouldn’t be wrong in assuming there are a number of historic homes for sale in the Central area. Indeed, you’ll find charming row houses and some grand old apartment buildings and hotels that have converted to condos over the years. But, an even larger portion of the Central real estate inventory comes from newer developments—this part of the District has seen a lot of construction in recent years and that has meant tearing down and building back up.

As for prices, condos for sale start around $200,000 for tiny apartment-style units and climb well into the millions. At the top end are some truly spectacular penthouse residences.

So if you want to roll out of bed, ignore your gleaming stainless steel kitchen in favor of the closest Starbucks and walk to work, this neighborhood is just your ticket. At night, the Verizon Center featuring NBA basketball with the Washington Wizards is just a stroll away. And after screaming yourself hoarse and guzzling overpriced beer, you can head home to your expensive cocoon and prepare for a five-hour rest cycle before you get up and start all over again. It’s the good life, in Central, DC.
