Braddock Road, VA Homes For Sale
Metro rail convenience is just one of the attractions for a popular neighborhood in Alexandria, Virginia sometimes referred to as Braddock Road and sometimes simply Braddock. As you might have already surmised, the community gets its name quite logically—it’s an area radiating for several blocks around the Braddock Road Metro Station which is located at the corner of Braddock Road and West Street.
Situated between Old Town and Old Town North, this densely populated neighborhood continues its lengthy evolution as place that has traditionally appealed to both residents and travelers. The term “lengthy” is quite literal—the road itself dates all the way back to Native American footpaths and was turned into a military wagon road in 1755 by colonists. The arrival of the Metro station more than two centuries later, pushed the popularity envelope even further.
This is a neighborhood with a lot of urban energy as well as quiet side streets with large homes for sale. Real estate properties truly run the gamut of styles, with antique row houses dating all the way back to the early 1800s, turn-of-the-century Victorian houses, vintage Craftsman charmers, Colonial Revivals, Cape Cods, mid-century contemporary styles and newer upscale custom contemporary homes as well. There’s also plenty of flats and lofts in large luxury buildings as well as townhouses of all ages.

There’s numerous businesses as well, including lots of bars, restaurants and coffeehouses along Braddock Road itself. All the development over the years hasn’t left room for greenspace, and city planners have been discussing a new park at the corner of Henry and Pendleton Streets—currently referred to as the “Braddock Road Interim Open Space” It’s a half-block parcel for now with a Capital Bikeshare dock, a bocce ball court, picnic tables and a small grassy area. It will likely expand to a full acre at some point, absorbing the spot presently occupied by the small Wythe Street post office.
Properties in the neighborhood runs from the $300,000 range for smallish condos to well over a million dollars for upscale single-family homes. Other popular communities in the area include Del Ray and Rosemont to the northwest, and Potomac Yard with all its retail and amenities lies to the northeast. And then there’s next-door Old Town offering a sublime experience for both visitors and longtime residents with a flourishing arts & culture scene to some of DC Metro’s top dining experiences.
And so, Braddock Road offers all the creature comforts from Metro transportation to a wide array of conveniences—there’s even a local Trader Joe’s!
