Arlington Ridge Homes For Sale, Arlington VA

An elongated and well-to-do residential neighborhood in Arlington, Virginia, the community of Arlington Ridge is known for the stately mansions that line the eponymously named Arlington Ridge Road. This oddly-shaped community is often associated with neighboring Aurora Hills to the east. Among its numerous other border points are the I-395 which wraps around the western and northwestern portion, Army-Navy Drive to the north, Pentagon City to the northeast, and the City of Alexandria to the south.

Arlington Ridge is rich in history, with old roadways dating back to the Revolutionary War. Early residential development dates back to the mid-1800s, although few of those old farmhouses remain today. The elevation of The Ridge provided strategic importance during the Civil War, with both sides battling for supremacy of its vantage points. Fort Albany and Fort Scott were both built by the Union Army to safeguard Washington. These armaments are no longer standing but remain as historic districts and parks.
