Allencrest Homes for Sale, Arlington, VA
Allencrest is a smallish community in the western section of Arlington, Virginia, bordered by Lee Highway on the south and extending just west of I-66. This area was once rural farmland, with large portions of land owned by Samuel Birch—a colonel in the War of 1812. Shortly after the war ended, Birch built a cabin on top of a hill at the corner of Powhatan and N. 26th streets. Today, a three-story house circa 1890 stands at the same site. The house—like the neighborhood itself—is named Allencrest, after its builder, William Allen.
