Raquel Torres O’Brien, originally from the historic city of Burgos, Spain, brings a refined European sensibility and entrepreneurial spirit to her professional pursuits. Raised in a family deeply rooted in viticulture, with a vineyard in Spain’s renowned Ribera del Duero wine region, Raquel developed an early appreciation for craftsmanship, tradition, and excellence—values that continue to guide her work today.
After earning her degree in Advertising and Public Relations in Madrid, Raquel moved to the United States in 2012 to continue her education and expand her career horizons. She earned her MBA in 2015, combining her creative background with strategic business insight. Drawing on her family’s legacy, she transitioned into the world of wine and hospitality, where her leadership and passion quickly distinguished her.
Since 2016, Raquel has served as a sommelier and wine director at some of Washington, D.C.’s most acclaimed restaurants, including Fabio Trabocchi’s Del Mar and Enrique Limardo’s Imperfecto. Her ability to curate exceptional experiences and build long-lasting relationships with discerning clientele earned her a stellar reputation in the region’s fine dining community.
Expanding her reach, Raquel founded her own wine consulting company, advising private collectors and hospitality groups on acquisitions and program development. Her role as a trusted advisor naturally evolved into her newest endeavor—real estate—where she now brings her dedication to service, refined taste, and global perspective to Compass.
At Compass, Raquel leverages her strength as a connector—linking people, opportunities, and experiences—to guide clients through Washington’s competitive real estate market. Her blend of business acumen and hospitality-driven approach makes her a distinct asset to both buyers and sellers seeking a thoughtful, high-touch experience.
An active member of Women of Wine, a non-profit organization supporting female professionals in the industry, Raquel remains committed to mentorship, collaboration, and community.
She resides in Washington, D.C. with her husband and young daughter. When not serving clients, Raquel enjoys traveling, returning to Spain to visit family, and exploring some of the world’s most celebrated vineyards.
