Newington, VA Homes For Sale

There is no shortage of homes for sale in Newington, Virginia—from entry-level condos to spacious mansions. This affluent town in Fairfax County is spread out over seven square miles and home to over 20,000 happy campers. Why so happy? Because of a strong local economy, excellent community amenities and lots of wide-open spaces.

Newington isn’t as steeped in history as some of its neighbors in Washington Metro, although there is a marker along Telegraph Road that reminds those passing by that the Truro Parish Glebe house, built in 1760, once stood there. Also, there was a long-ago train station until it finally closed down. But primarily, this is a town that has seen its population boom during the modern era. More About the Newington Real Estate Market

Detached single-family homes for sale generally start at around $400,000 and climb into seven-figure territory. Architectural styles are heavy on various Colonial derivatives and Cape Cods. Exteriors add some variety, with choices of clapboard, brick or fieldstone. The lot sizes tend to be generous, complimented by wooded land and green space that winds in and around the various subdivisions.

As for condos for sale, you can find some small apartment-style units starting in the very low six figures but the majority of listings are spacious townhouses, usually in the Colonial style.

The economy in Newington is quite strong, owing to a heavy tech and research presence. Also, neighboring Fort Belvoir is going through a major expansion due to base realignments in the greater Washington area, which has increased the need for housing. With the population and economy growing, new home construction is on the rise.

There’s all sorts of parks and recreation, plus a Giant supermarket, restaurants and coffee shops. Springfield, which is often associated with Newington, has even more amenities including a Trader Joe’s. Commuters can use the nearby I-95 or avail themselves of the Franconia-Springfield Metro. This is a suburb with a lot to offer, and homes for sale that are increasing in value.
