This striking Romanesque Revival complex with its fortress-like brick appearance was originally designed by Waddy Butler Wood for the Metropolitan Railroad Company and completed in 1896. Its purpose was two-fold—as storage houses for electric streetcars, with administrative offices on the upper floors. The buildings transitioned to bus storage in 1961, and were transformed into luxury condos for sale in 2005.
The Car Barn condos received a lot of attention at the time of their redevelopment—an extensive renovation and restoration process was necessary.
