More About the Boyds, MD Real Estate Market
The town goes back to early railroad days and there are still a number of grand historic structures, including the Boyd Hotel, built in 1887 and designed in the Second Empire style. Also known as the Historic High View and the Burdette Hotel, this 23-room resort inn is now a private residence.
In the early 2000s, some developers took note of all the beautiful, unoccupied land, and a new wave of construction began with custom homes and condos for sale. Unfortunately, the new upscale building boom bumped right into the national real estate downturn. This created a ripple effect that resulted in plunging values and in some cases, foreclosures and short sales.
So where do things stand now in Boyds? With the apt slogan, “Home in the Country,” this charming, bucolic town is a great place to live with amenities like the Boyd Country Market—established in 1933 and still going strong. Commuters can board the MARC New Brunswick rail line at the historic Boyd station, and there's wonderful parks and recreation.
