This tucked away enclave began its residential development in the late 1930s, taking a break for the World War II years and then resuming in the mid-1940s. Home building took a more lengthy pause in the 1970s, picking up again more recently with some new custom home construction.
Homes for sale in Woodmont generally aren’t for first-time buyers or bargain hunters—prices start around a million dollars and have recently climbed as high as $3 million. These are lovely properties, often in Colonial Revival, English Tudor or Arts & Crafts styles. Also present are some large French Country-style estates, as well as intriguing mid-century contemporary residences.
This is a small community with only about 750 residents. Property lots tend to be large, and the abundance of trees adds a feel of quiet privacy all around. It’s not uncommon to see deer and fox in the area, and residents also enjoy all the hiking trails and the large, historic Fort C.F. Smith Park with its playing fields and a community house for gatherings.
If all of this is starting to sound like a far-away nature retreat, don’t fret. To the south is Lee Highway, Lyon Village, Clarendon-Courthouse and the Rosslyn-Ballston Corridor. In other words, plenty retail, restaurant and entertainment choices. Or simply cross the bridge to DC. Woodmont is a great place to live, just as long as you can find an active listing!
