Wisteria Mansion Condos For Sale
1101 L Street NW, Washington D.C.
The Beaux Arts-styled Wisteria Mansion is a stately brownstone built in 1926, and converted to a condominium in 1984. But the property history goes back farther than that, dating to a Civil War era merchant who built the Wisteria House, and brought in wisteria trees from China. That mansion was razed in 1924 and replaced by the Wisteria Mansion Apartments. The original trees still remain.

Additional Info About Wisteria Mansion Condominium Residences
This L-shaped eight-story structure is located at 1101 L Street NW in the Logan Circle neighborhood in Washington, DC's 20005 zip code. It is also considered to be part of the larger Downtown DC area.
From the street, the front facade offers intricate scrollwork and details carved into two stories of concrete base relief, giving way to brownstone bricks construction. The front entrance leads into a lobby with a white marble floor, pillars and tall windows. There are 71 units altogether, the majority of which are studio and one-bedrooms.
Condos for sale at Wisteria Mansion offer one of the most affordable options for home ownership in a highly desirable neighborhood, with recent prices in the $200,000 to $300,000 range. Part of the reason is the size of these “cozy” pads, running from around 400 to 542 square feet. Also, the condo conversion process was 30 years ago, so while the galley kitchens were updated with granite counters and space-efficient appliances, they don’t quite fit the definition of “gourmet”—unless they have been remodeled by individual owners in the interim.
Regardless, these units do hold a lot of charm and appeal, with restored hardwood floors, crown molding, large windows and bathrooms with subway tile flooring. Also, the walls are genuine plaster, and heat comes from highly functional old-style radiators.
Wisteria Mansion is situated in the southern portion of Logan Circle, where L Street, 11th Street and Massachusetts Avenue all come together. Residents are close to a number of inviting green spaces, including Franklin Park, Mount Vernon Square, and McPherson Square. Also nearby is the McPherson Square Metro Station. The White House is within walking distance, and there’s plenty of great bars, restaurants, museums and nearby theaters.
