More about Properties for Sale near Anacostia Green Line
The community was known as Uniontown during the mid-1800s, with jobs closely tied to the Navy Yard on the other side of the river. But over time, the massive military shipyard downsized, leaving industrial pollution and a stalled local economy behind.
More recently, the Navy Yard has gone through a major makeover with commercial redevelopment, including condos, apartments, restaurants, entertainment and the Nationals Park, home of the Washington Nationals baseball team.
Despite all the revitalization, Anacostia still enjoys a small town feel, with coffee shops and thriving local businesses. The Green Line runs from Prince George’s Country Maryland all the way into Washington DC with numerous stops within the city, including several in Downtown DC. The line eventually ends in Suitland, Maryland.
Additional Information about the Area
Anacostia was once known for urban decline. These days, however, aren’t nearly as many bargain Craftsman bungalow foreclosures and short sales. But that doesn’t mean opportunities don’t still exist.
You’ll still find narrow Victorians, Colonials, row houses, old brick apartment condo conversions and even newer townhouse developments. Recent listings have from the very low six figures to around a million dollars. But the majority of real estate falls into in the $200s and $300s.
