VIO Condominiums, The Wharf, Southwest Waterfront
Located at 690 Water Street SW, Washington, DC 20024
Sitting right by the water’s edge in Washington DC is a brand new condo development known as VIO which translates into “I Journey” in Latin. The 12-story contemporary building will be completed in the fall of 2017 and is located in a new community known as The Wharf. VIO boasts 112 luxury condos in a variety of models.
The Wharf is a hugely ambitious project in DC’s Southwest Waterfront that has garnered tons of press. Like VIO, the emerging community is overseen by prolific developer PN Hoffman. It covers 24 acres of land and 50 acres of water and is anticipated to come in at a cost of around $2 billion. The Wharf is a revitalization of the coastline of the Washington Channel and will feature three new piers, luxury hotels, a concert venue, bars, top restaurants, retail and upscale condos for sale.
The residences at VIO will come in studio, one, two and three bedroom models ranging in size from approximately 530 to 1,540 square feet. Prices will start in the mid-six figures and climb from there. The glass and steel modern architecture plus interior design is courtesy of Handel Architects along with WDG Architects.
The building overlooks the channel and Potomac River, and most units will have private balconies. Residents will also be treated to wide-plank hardwood flooring, nine-foot ceilings and banks of true floor-to-ceiling windows, allowing floods of natural light and even more views of the glittering water below. Other waterfront condominiums in the area include the new 525 Water.
Like many other luxury condos for sale in the Washington Metro area, floor plans at VIO feature open space themes and plenty of interior amenities. That includes super modern Euro-style kitchens built into single walls with Thermador and Bosch appliances, Kohler under-mount sinks with Grohe pullout faucets, tile backsplashes and natural stone counters. These fabulous cooking places are sleek, functional and unobtrusive. The baths are also lavish yet uncluttered with big frameless showers, deep soaking tubs and attractive tiling. Some residences have their own elevators while penthouses have private rooftop terraces.
Speaking of the VIO’s apex, all residents get to enjoy a rooftop infinity edge salt water pool overlooking the river below. There’s also a state of the art gym, yoga studio, a resident lounge with espresso bar and fireplace, 24-hour front desk, concierge and porter services. Most units come with secure parking in the underground garage, and there is also car detailing and even a dog wash station.
VIO is right at the Yacht Club Piazza—a nice touch if you feel like keeping your own boat at a nearby slip. The condo building is on the Wharf Promenade where all the excitement happens, with a slew of super trendy nightspots and restaurants. Among eateries in the works are Hank’s Oyster Bar, The Brighton waterfront pub and the two-level Spanish waterfront seafood restaurant Del Mar from renowned chef Fabio Trabocchi.
