Unity Condos For Sale, Washington DC
New residential development in the Brightwood neighborhood continues to percolate, along with grassroots efforts to expand the retail presence along east-west roadways like Kennedy Street NW. One of the more recent opportunities for home ownership is the Unity Condominium—a nicely restored 1920 building with 22 one and two-bedroom residences.
Located at 21 Kennedy Street in Washington, DC's 20011 zip code area, the Unity is a three-story brick building that is similar in design to many in the area—somewhat Victorian although not ornate. A front entrance with a bit of Deco flair, leads into a lobby with lounge area, and steps up to the first floor hallway levels.

Additional Info About Unity Condominium Residences
These former apartments have been renovated, although not to quite the same luxury standards as conversions in other parts of the District. Still, there’s some nice original detailing, such as large interior archways transitioning between rooms. Some floors are older parquet, while others are new hardwood. The galley kitchens have been updated with granite counters and new appliances. All units also have closet washer/dryer stacks.
New retail has been a bit slow to take hold along this section of Kennedy Street, leading to the creation of the all-volunteer Kennedy Street Business and Development Association. Among the local hangout spots are Culture Coffee, Taqueria DF, and local takeout fave Andrene’s Caribbean & Soul Food which is expanding to be more of a sit-down establishment.
Surrounding neighborhoods include Takoma to the north and 16th Street Heights to the south. Rock Creek Park is at the western border.
Condos for sale at the Unity typically start in the very low $200s for one-bedroom units, climbing into the high $200s and low $300s for larger residences. Fort Totten Park is a few blocks east, as is the Fort Totten Metro. Just to the north is Fort Slocum Park. The Maryland border is just about a half-mile to the northeast.
