One of many garden courtyard complexes in the Washington Metro area, Palisades Gardens is recognized by Arlington County as an important historic resource. Originally constructed as apartments, the development converted to condos for sale some years back. That said, these residences don’t come to market that often.  

Built in 1947, this was one of the last of the World War II-era garden communities that were conceived during a time of federal worker expansion. While most were constructed during the war’s lead-up years, the trend continued at a reduced rate for some years thereafter. One of the things that makes Palisades Gardens different from many of its brick Colonial Revival contemporaries, is an added attention to detail, including lovely bay windows, and in some center sections, front columns and archways. There is also an abundance of lush landscaping and large, mature trees, winding in and about the buildings.

In recent years, condos for sale at Palisades Gardens have listed in the high $200s to high $300s. Given the scarcity of available units, it would not be surprising to see those prices rise in the future. There are one and two-bedroom floor plans in the complex, some of which function as two-story townhouses. The units all have fireplaces, as well as delightful layouts and homey nooks and crannies.

The street address for the community is generally recognized as 2109 N Scott Street but as with all garden complexes, it is bound by other streets as well, including N Rolfe Street, N Taft Street and 21st Street N. The entire development lies north of Lee Highway and Interstate 66, and is also right across from Dawson’s Terrace Recreation Center.  

The Palisades Gardens is a condo community that enjoys a close proximity to the Potomac River, as well as easy convenience to the Ballston-Rosslyn corridor to the south. Finally, Washington, DC is just minutes away, across the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge.
