A Closer Look at The Odyssey

Built in 2006, The Odyssey gets mentioned a lot when it comes to DC Metro “top 10 condo” lists. The luxury touches go more than a step beyond, from the stunningly modern lobby with fireplace and 24/7 front desk to the elongated rooftop pool with spectacular panoramic views of the Washington and Arlington skylines. The complex is also mixed-use, with a Sushi Rock and Solarus Spa & Salon on the ground floor.

But what about the actual condos for sale themselves—how much do they cost and what do they look like?

The floor plans are nicely varied, from 579-foot studios all the way up to three bedroom plus den models. There are also 10 townhouse units. Additionally, floors 10 through 16 are categorized as “Platinum Penthouse Suites.” Prices range from around $400,000 to well over a million dollars. In other words, you’ve got choices!

Many of the residences at The Odyssey have fireplaces and all have balconies. Bamboo is the most common flooring, although there are other options. Similarly, wall finishes vary from stark white to brick to cherry wood. The kitchens range from deluxe to unbelievable, with granite, marble and stainless steel. Last but certainly not least is the location itself—an absolutely prime spot along the Rosslyn-Ballston Corridor and right next-door to Clarendon. The Odyssey is just across from Arlington Plaza and two blocks from the Courthouse Metro. You can walk to either Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s for groceries, or just go out to drink and dine, at the multitude of restaurants and hot spots in the neighborhood.

More About Living in Court House

The Courthouse community, also spelled as Court House, is named for the Arlington Courthouse. It is one of five urban transit driven neighborhoods along the Rosslyn-Ballston Corridor. Heading west from the Potomac River, those neighborhoods are Rosslyn, Courthouse, Clarendon, Virginia Square and Ballston. Each has its own dedicated Metro station offering Orange and Silver Line service.

As with its neighbors, Courthouse is a historic community that has evolved greatly over the years. It was once part of Fairfax County, then Alexandria and then Washington, DC. Fort Woodbury was built during the Civil War where the current court house stands. By 1920, the area was renamed Arlington County. Residential development picked up during the early 1900s, after electric trolley were introduced from Rosslyn to Clarendon. The Metrorail system arrived in the modern era, with the Court House Metro station completed in 1979.

Commercial and residential development along the corridor has also changed greatly over the years. Courthouse used to be known for its charming bungalows and Victorian homes. Today, the area is geared toward luxury condos and townhouses for sale, along with a panoply of shops, bars, restaurants and entertainment. There are still some old homes here and there. But the tiny Courthouse enclave is largely represented by condos and federal buildings.

In addition to The Odyssey, the neighborhood is home to condominiums such as Court House Hill Condominiums, Woodbury Heights Condominiums, Meridian at Courthouse Commons and 2001 Clarendon Boulevard. Just a bit further east, across the Rosslyn border, is Gaslight and the Wooster and Mercer Lofts.

Residents at The Odyssey had plenty of nearby bars and restaurants to stroll to, including Summers Ragtime, Ragtime, Sushi Rock, Tupelo Honey and the Bayou Bakery, Coffee Bar & Eatery! As mentioned above, there’s also a nearby Whole Foods plus Market Commons with its upscale shops.
