The Essex Condos For Sale, Washington DC

Located in Washington, DC’s upscale Forest Hills community is a large condominium known as the Essex. Built in 1956 as luxury apartments, the complex more recently converted to condos for sale. The nine-story building has also gone through substantial renovations to the lobby and common areas, allowing for a more modern appeal.

With a street address of 4740 Connecticut Avenue NW in DC’s 20008 zip code, the Essex is in the city’s Northwest quadrant, a couple miles from the Maryland border. The neighborhood is bordered by Chevy Chase to the north, Cleveland Park to the south and American University Park to the west. The Essex condos are also considered to be in Wakefield, a small subdivision that is closely associated with Forest Hills.

There are 168 studio, one bedroom and two bedroom residences at the Essex, some of which also have dens. The building was designed in a mid-century modern style that preceded the International movement—in other words, clean and simple. Condos for sale here typically list from the high $200s to the mid $400s.
