This tweedy neighborhood isn’t as old as some others in Arlington, as it was primarily developed during a busy decade between the late 1940s and late 1950s. There has been a new spate of construction in recent years owing to teardowns and wholesale remodels. Active real estate listings tend to be somewhat sparse, and most certainly expensive. Even the most modest original brick Ramblers can fetch a high six figures, while most homes for sale cost over a million dollars.
Architectural styles in Stratford Hills lean toward Colonial Revival, Cape Cod and Arts & Crafts, as well as the aforementioned Ramblers. Lots vary in size and can often be on rises or have other individual characteristics—these aren’t of the cookie cutter variety. That adds to the charm of the neighborhood, along with flower gardens and other landscaping.
The green nature of the community is furthered by the local Stratford Park as well as Rock Spring Park to the south. Families in the area also enjoy the Knights of Columbus Swimming Pool (by membership). Schools include Williamsburg Middle School and the new H-B Woodlawn which replaced Stratford Junior High.
