The Ritz-Carlton Residences | Luxury Condos | Chevy Chase Lake

Located at 8551 Connecticut Avenue, Chevy Chase, MD 20815

One of the newest and swankiest condominium addresses in Washington Metro is the Ritz-Carlton Residences in Maryland's Chevy Chase community. With 65 refined units across six levels, the stately building on Connecticut Ave was designed by David M. Schwartz with stunning interiors crafted by the Akseizer Design Group. Completed in 2023, the building sits within a new mixed-use commercial and residential subdivision known as Chevy Chase Lake, named after a long-gone manmade lake and amusement park at the same location.

Residences at the new Ritz-Carlton come in four distinctly different models, with layouts ranging from one bedroom and a study to three bedrooms, and from approximately 1,107 to 2,202 square feet of living space. All of the residences also feature balconies or terraces. As part of the world renowned hospitality brand, the Ritz-Carlton Residences has a couple of well-established siblings in the DC area, the Ritz-Carlton Georgetown and the Ritz-Carlton West End. One interesting difference is that the latest offering is wholly dedicated to condominium living while the other two addresses incorporate hotels as well.

The attention to detail and quality craftsmanship is evident from the street with an exterior design that is all about classicism. That first impression lingers while entering the grand lobby with its marble floors and soaring ceilings, and it is doubly reinforced within the condo units themselves. Oversized windows, white oak floors, cove ceilings, and recessed LED lighting are a few of the typical features, along with open layouts complemented by chef-inspired kitchens that hug the walls while facing out into the living and dining spaces. Prepare your culinary feasts in luxe settings highlighted by Bosch appliance packages, Italian cabinetry, quartz countertops, and waterfall island prep stations. Dine inside or out on the terrace. The four distinctly different models include The Park, The Lake Collection, The Chase Collection, and Lion and Crown (the latter being opulent penthouses at the top). Den/studies often have custom fold-up Murphy beds for guest sleeping, and the spa-style bathrooms feature marble detailing combined with quartz-topped twin-sink vanities, frameless showers, and deep soaking tubs.

The Ritz-Carlton Residences building has mixed-use retail at the street level, along with an incredible lobby staffed with door attendants, and 24/7 concierge service. There is a pet spa as well as mail and package facilities at the lower level, plus secure parking. You’ll find a lot more at the top level where 12,000 square feet of interior and exterior space has been meticulously partitioned into nine separate lifestyle concepts, such as the Movement Studio, the Sky Terrace, Scotch & Hearth, and much more. It’s all part of a beautifully choreographed experience promoting concepts of health, wellness, dining, leisure time, reading, yoga, and evening cocktails.

Chevy Chase Lake, Then and Now

The new Ritz-Carlton Residences is at the corner of Connecticut Avenue and Manor Road and was built as part of a new mixed-use subdivision known as Chevy Chase Lake. Both the name and origins date back to 1892 and a man-made lake that was ultimately drained and filled with dense vegetation in the mid-20th century. The accompanying Chevy Chase Lake Amusement Park was a highly popular destination at the end of the Connecticut Avenue trolley car line, offering dancing, music, dining, and rowboat excursions from 1984 to 1937. The new incarnation pays homage to the long-ago venue, replacing the long forgotten merry-go-round and dancing pavilions with the Town Square shopping center, Starbucks, an Amazon Fresh, and other conveniences.

Those fortunate enough to live at the new Ritz-Carlton will find themselves in a stellar location, close to several good restaurants, a neighborhood library, the Columbia Country Club, and expansive parks. The heart of downtown Bethesda lies several blocks to the west, and there you’ll find an incredible collection of boutique shops, upscale malls, entertainment, and scads of top dining options.
