Petworth Over the Years
Petworth predates the founding of the District, dating all the way back to homesteaders in the 1700s. But it wasn’t until the electric streetcars arrived in 1890 that the real residential boom began. Major construction was largely completed by the 1940s. More recently, there has been a new wave of development, including condominium buildings.
The neighborhood went through a rough patch toward the late part of the 20th century, but has strongly rebounded over the last decade. That revitalization has included an entrepreneurial spirit for local businesses, as well as spiking real estate prices, whether single-family homes or condos.
More About the Neighborhood

The Swift is part of an emphasis on the Georgia Avenue corridor that aligns with the proximity of the Georgia Avenue-Petworth Metro Station (Green Line). Other condo projects include 4328 Georgia Avenue, a mixed-use boutique building.
