Parkway Homes For Sale, Arlington VA
The Parkway neighborhood in South Arlington, Virginia is small—very, very small. There were less than 50 properties here at last count and they’re all duplexes. The tiny community is shielded from the I-395 by a ten-foot concrete barrier and consists of just three streets: S. Four Mile Run Drive, 27th Road S and S. Cleveland Street. You enter this highway-adjacent hideaway via a single entrance off S. Glebe Road. It’s basically unfindable.
None of the above would seem to serve as a ringing endorsement for homes for sale in Parkway. Still, locals seem to like their micro-neighborhood. It’s close to the interstate for easy commuting (obviously) and the tall wall shields residences from the sound of rushing traffic.

Parkway was developed from the early 1940s to the early 1960s—a two decade period for just 48 two and three-story brick Colonial Revival duplexes, each with two front entrances. Apparently, the developer wasn’t in a huge hurry to complete the project.
Surrounding neighborhoods include Nauck on the other side of the freeway and Arma Valley to the east. The Alexandria border is just a bit further east than that, with communities like Arlandria and Beverley Hills close by.
The unadorned boxy duplex structures in Parkway sport the basic Revival style, and have basements. The lots are small and tidy and many of the units have either side or rear decks. These aren’t fancy dwellings but the prices are among the most affordable in Arlington, with recent listings between $300,000 and $425,000.
As for local amenities, the Four Mile Run bike and jogging trail runs right through the neighborhood and there’s a number of nearby businesses, including a Giant Supermarket on S. Glebe. Also, Shirlington with its popular Arts & Entertainment District is close by, as is the Four Mile Run Farmers Market as well as restaurants and other hang-outs in Arlandria such as The Birchmere music hall.
You won’t spot Parkway on any maps. But first-time home buyers might be able to find a hidden gem for sale.
