Montgomery Village, MD Homes For Sale

Maryland has long had a fascination with unique forms of suburbia, and Montgomery Village is yet another great example. Home to 40,000 residents, this planned Washington Metro community sprang to life in the early 1960s, and features a variety of homes for sale and more than 25 individual neighborhoods. Situated among the green hills and dales of Montgomery County, Montgomery Village, MD even has its own scenic body of water—Lake Whetstone, with boating and fishing.

This was once an agrarian-based community, dating back the mid-1800s. But in the 1950s, the Kettler Brothers began buying up the farms with a singular vision—they wanted to build their own suburban Shangri-La where residents would have everything they ever needed, right at their fingertips. A decade later, ground was broken. One of the interesting results of all the various plots of land is the village’s borders—branching off into all sorts of spiky shapes.
