More About the McLean Real Estate Market

Despite the sense of history, the community’s residential expansion primarily occurred after the close of World War II and continues on today. In fact, Forbes calls it the fastest growing city in Virginia. It is also one of the wealthiest communities in the entire country.

There are a lot of condos for sale in McLean, from smaller apartment-style units to high-end townhouses. The upscale condo market is one of the city’s biggest growth factors, with a number of mixed-use projects in the heart of the city’s downtown. New development is also extending west toward the rapidly expanding Tysons Corner, creating an important area of economic growth.

It is the detached single-family homes for sale that reign supreme in McLean, however, and that primarily means properties listing over a million dollars. In fact, at last count, there were over 200 active listings in that category. That means discerning buyers have a lot of choices, from five-bedroom starter mansions to palaces overlooking the Potomac River with 20,000 square feet of living space. It’s kind of like a mall with front columns.

With great shops and restaurants, golf courses and nightlife, and some truly fabulous schools, McLean has a lot to offer and is still evolving.
