Glover Park History
The land that now makes up the Glover Park neighborhood dates back to a 17th century land grant. It was rural farmland and the butcher trade in the early days, and once considered part of North Georgetown. A banker, Charles C. Glover, purchased a portion of the land in 1911 and set out to plat it for residential development. The building boom increased after 1926 due to print advertising.

There’s also a popular farmers market, as well as community vegetable gardens at the edge of the park. The highly-ranked Stoddert Elementary school is also in the neighborhood, as is the Stoddert Recreation Center and Stoddert Field (home to a long-running indie coed softball league).
