In other words, a commercial property could be a store, a factory or a warehouse. It could also be the sale or development of a residential condominium building on whole, rather than the individual units within that structure. There’s also the case of mixed-use buildings combining residential and commercial units.

Washington Metro is different from many other parts of the country due in part to its lengthy history, and also due to its continuing evolution. The urban nature of much of DC, as well as a finite amount of land with which to house so many people, results in both challenges and opportunities for commercial developers. The challenges are obvious—there’s just not that much in the way of undeveloped territory. But the historical aspect provides some unexpected options.

For instance, there are a number of former schools, churches, warehouses and even liveries that are no longer used for that purpose. But because of their age and historic significance, they can’t be torn down. Hence the ability for an enterprising developer to buy an old school or other interesting location and turn it into condos for sale!

And so, commercial properties for sale throughout the Washington Metropolitan Area can take many shapes and forms. Whether it’s Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Bethesda or so many other parts of the region, the continued inflow of new residents and businesses means that space is sorely needed to house everyone and everything. No wonder the market for commercial real estate is so strong!
