Cherrydale Homes For Sale, Arlington, VA
Historic Cherrydale is one of Arlington’s consistently popular neighborhoods, known for beautiful homes for sale and the telltale cherry blossoms along quiet tree-lined streets. Homes for sale don’t come cheap, with median listing prices usually hovering around the million dollar mark. That said, patient buyers are sometimes rewarded with “bargains” as low as 750,000.
This community of about 3,800 residents has an odd geographical shape, with I-66 along the southern edge and other borders zigging in and out, and including N. Utah Street to the west and Lorcom Lane at the northernmost point. Lee Highway bisects Cherrydale, while its epicenter is known as Five Points for a multi-pronged intersection. The subdivision of Dominion Heights is located within the town’s southern section.

Cherrydale dates back to 1839 and gets its name from a large cherry orchard belonging to Dorsey Donaldson. A post office that opened the same year was also named Cherrydale. Residential development is more spread out here than in many Arlington communities. You can find beautiful old Victorian structures going back to the 1800s, with a majority of construction taking place between the turn of the century and 1941.
But despite the abundance of old Queen Annes, Colonials and Craftsman charmers, the building of homes for sale resumed in the mid-1940s, albeit at a somewhat slower rate. There’s midcentury cottages, Capes and plenty of large remodels or complete teardowns, with Arts & Crafts and other upscale styles that often borrow a page from the past for design inspiration. There’s even a handful of townhouse condos for sale in the area.
With its small-town vibe and friendly streets, Cherrydale presents an idyllic North Arlington picture. There’s a library and a nice selection of local businesses including a hardware store, vet clinic, art gallery, yoga/Pilates studio, and restaurants like Le Maison, Essy’s Carriage House, and Kite Runner. Townspeople walk their dogs or socialize at Oakgrove Park, and there’s even holiday parades! And for those wanting a more urban night on the town, the Wilson Boulevard corridor is just blocks to the south.
