Homes for Sale at or Nearby Chain Bridge Forest, Arlington VA

If you’re seeking stunning modern homes for sale by noted architects, Chain Bridge Forest is where you’ll find them. Opinions vary however, on whether this very tony community is part of McLean in Fairfax County or on the other side of the Arlington border. In fact, it exists on both sides of the hilly and heavily wooded divide, and is also bound by Arlingwood to the northeast, Glebe Road along the southeast and the neighborhood of Stafford Albemarle Glebe to the southwest.

But once you’re inside the neighborhood, all boundaries melt away. This is the wealthy wilderness, Washington Metro-style. Woodland creatures frolic, trees sway gently in the breeze and homes for sale—while scarce—will take your breath away. Yes, the community is that idyllic and that fancy, with prices starting over a million dollars and climbing from there.

There’s a smattering old antiques here, including farmhouses and cabins in the woods. But the majority of homes for sale were built from the 1940s on, with a variety of architectural styles such as Colonial, English Tudor, Arts and Crafts, French County and midcentury contemporary styles. Tear-downs resulting in very large custom homes for sale are common here, as are striking modernist hilltop retreats that comport to the natural terrain. Residents here enjoy the hidden-away vibe, with bike trails leading through the forest, all the way to the Chain Bridge and across to Georgetown and the C&O towpath.

You won’t find any condos for sale in Chain Bridge Forest, nor will you find businesses. This is strictly residential and homes for sale are exclusively or the detached single-family variety. Prices generally start over a million dollars and climb into nosebleed territory. It’s not all giant mansions, however. There are still some cottages and low-slung homes perched next to trophy structures. But the land itself is worth plenty, regardless of what’s on it. And so-called deals are increasingly hard to find.
