Beechwood Hills Homes for Sale, Arlington VA
Tucked up into Zachary Taylor Park to the northwest and Potomac Overlook Park to northeast is a small enclave known as Beechwood Hills. To the southeast and southwest respectively are the neighborhoods of Dover-Crystal and Donaldson Run. If you haven’t guesses already from the geographical markers, this is prime North Arlington real estate territory and a place where homes for sale are quite pricy.
As with surrounding communities near the Arlington/Fairfax border, the seminal history of what is now known as Beechwood Hills goes back hundreds of years. But widespread residential development would have to wait a little—the oldest surviving homes in the neighborhood date back to the early 1900s. A somewhat livelier construction boom happened between the early 1930s and early 1940s, with spacious homes for sale on oversized lots. A fairly lengthy lull ensued after that, with a return to home-building from the 1960 onward.

One of the more interesting architectural types that you’ll find in the neighborhood is the “Tudor Cape,” which is basically just what the name suggests. The shape of the house is center entry Cape with one window to each side, with brick construction augmented by stone detail work in the Tudor tradition.
There’s a real fondness for stone in this neighborhood—you’ll also find variations on the Cape theme with flagstone exteriors and gambrel roofs, as well as brick Colonials and newer custom mansions with either brick or stone facades. The market is entirely comprised of detached single-family homes for sale with prices ranging from the high six figures to about $2 million.
Residents here enjoy their space—there’s only a handful of streets and tons of trees interspersed between properties. The three-acre Marcey Road Park with tennis and basketball courts is at the edge of the larger Potomac Overlook Park with its summer concerts, gardens and a nature center housed in a 1912 home. Also nearby is the elite Washington Golf and Country Club. To learn more about Beechwood Hills, call District Partners Real Estate, LLC, at 202-798-3600.
