The earliest existing homes in the community date back as far as 1904, but more substantial development didn’t occur until 1919 when a realtor named Ashton C. Jones bought up 61 acres of land, naming his fledgling project after himself. Additional blocks were added over the next 15 years until the neighborhood filled out to the current boundaries. Homes for sale in Ashton Heights present a potpourri of historic styles, including Colonial Revival, Queen Anne, and a bevy of bungalows and cottages in the Craftsman tradition. There are also a few old apartment buildings that have since converted to condos for sale.
The proximity to Wilson Blvd means plenty of dining, shopping and entertainment options—the Ballston-Rosslyn corridor is one of Arlington’s premiere hotspots. Residents of Ashton heights are also within walking distance of two Metro stations—Virginia Square and Ballston MU.
