Arlingwood Homes For Sale, Arlington VA
It’s not a large neighborhood but it sure is pricey. Located on the Potomac River with direct access to Washington DC via the famous Chain Bridge, Arlingwood is a place where the mega-million dollar homes for sale exist. Some of the most spectacular of these showcase mansions are along Chain Bridge Road, while others are a short distance inland. The neighborhood is also adjacent the community of McLean to the north, as well as Fort Marcy Park and the long riverfront greenbelt.
Arlingwood is tucked right up into the northeastern corner of Arlington, Virginia, north of Glebe Road and right by the Fairfax County border. This is a very old area, dating all the way back to the Revolutionary War. But despite historical footnotes, homes for sale in the 20th century didn’t start cropping up until the late 1930s, with a much more significant amount built during the 1950s on large lots, often bumping up against wooded areas. In more recent years, many of the original mid-century houses have been either razed and reconstructed as huge custom homes, or very extensively remodeled.
