Learn More About Arlington's Urban Villages:
Rosslyn
It all starts at the Potomac River with Rosslyn. Once home to saloons, brothels and highwaymen, the waterfront community went through a cleanup campaign in the late 1800s. These days, you’ll find high-rise offices and condos with spectacular river views as well as upscale lofts and townhouses. There’s also retail and restaurants, a thriving arts scene and the Key Bridge leading across the river to Washington DC.
Among the popular condominiums in Rosslyn are the Turnberry and the Waterview, both of which are right by the water, along with 1800 Wilson, Key & Nash, Gaslight Square, and the Highgate community with 109 townhomes.
Courthouse
Just to the west is Courthouse, home to administrative and judicial buildings. It’s also an amazing place for real estate properties, from old Craftsman bungalows and larger Queen Annes, to posh condominiums such as Park at Courthouse, Courthouse Hill, the Odyssey, the Williamsburg and the Wooster and Mercer Lofts which are right between Courthouse and Rosslyn.
Clarendon
Clarendon lies right next-door. In fact, the two side-by-side communities are often referred to collectively as Clarendon Courthouse. Residents enjoy shopping at Market Common—home to numerous upscale stores and restaurants as well as a Whole Foods. There’s also a Trader Joe’s a few blocks west.
Condos in Clarendon include Clarendon 3131, Clarendon 1021, The Residences at Liberty Court and Station Square.
Virginia Square
Virginia Square doesn’t have quite the same presence as Clarendon when it comes to trendy shops and eateries, but it’s a thriving little enclave nonetheless, and also well-known for higher education—George Mason University and George Washington University in particular.
Sought-after condos in the neighborhood include Arc3409, Virginia Square Towers and Virginia Square Condominium.
Ballston
And finally, there’s Ballston with a bustling downtown urban vibe, lots of businesses and the newly renovated Ballston Common Mall. Among the many notable condominiums are the Westview at Ballston Metro, Ballston Row, Ballston 880 and the Continental
A special shout-out must also go to the incredible labyrinth of bars and restaurants along Arlington’s Rosslyn-Ballston Corridor. A very small sampling would include Heavy Seas Alehouse, Ray’s the Steakhouse, Ray’s Hell-Burger, Barley Mac, Fireworks Pizza, Arlington Rooftop Bar & Grill, Me Jane, Liberty Tavern, Galaxy Hut, Whitlow’s on Wilson, Rustico, Yona by Mike Isabella, Sweetgreen and Front Page Arlington.
