But apart from a few historic properties, residential development here didn’t really happen until the late 1940s, continuing at a fairly steady pace for the next 20 years and slowing down thereafter. While the majority of construction occurred during the mid-century period, there have still been residences built since then, often teardowns that have given way to huge luxury waterfront homes for sale.
