Nauck Real Estate For Sale, Arlington VA
Located in South Arlington, Virginia is Nauck—a place steeped in history that also offers relatively affordable homes and condos for sale. With about 9,000 residents, the neighborhood is also closely associated with Green Valley. Like a number of other communities south of the Columbia Pike Corridor, Nauck has come to be regarded as a real estate market place that is rapidly transitioning upward.
The origins of Nauck date back colonial farmland that was first settled in 1669. It eventually became known as Green Valley for its fertile nature, as well as an estate named Green Valley Manor that existed near what is now the Army Navy Country Club. In the 1840s, heirs of the original plantation freed a number of slaves, deeding them land on which to settle and farm. The area attracted other free African-Americans after the end of the Civil War. In 1874, Dr. John D. Nauck purchased 46 acres of land and began subdividing it for residential property lots.
