Kensington South, MD Homes For Sale
What is so different from Kensington and Kensington South? They are both part of Greater Kensington in Maryland’s Montgomery County. Also known as South Kensington, this attractive community of about 8,000 residents wraps around the smaller original community of Kensington, to its west, south and east.
While Kensington itself dates back to tobacco farming days, the southern portion was primarily developed post World War II. Nonetheless, homes for sale often reflect architecture that draws from the signature Victorian influences of the older community. Still, there’s plenty of other design styles as well, including Colonial, Cape Cod, Contemporary, Rambler and Split-level. To learn more about Kensington South, MD homes for sale, contact us today!

More About the Kensington South, MD Real Estate Market
If there’s one predominant factor for homes for sale in South Kensington, however, it’s the many custom homes for sale, ranging in price from the solid mid-six figures to over a million dollars. As for condos for sale, you just won’t find any. This is an affluent community with a median real estate value of about $700,000.
Just as South Kensington wraps around its sister town on three sides, so does the greenbelt of Rock Creek Park make up the outer edges of Greater Kensington. And, beyond the greenbelt is the Capital Parkway. If this seems confusing, just picture the older community at the center, with concentric outer circles making up South Kensington, the parkland and finally the beltway.
You won’t find much in the way of retail in South Kensington but that’s not viewed as much of a problem for locals, given that the charming Old Town Center of Kensington is only about a mile away. But the real attraction here are Kensington South MD homes for sale themselves—tastefully upscale without being ostentatious.
